Default exhaust problems

I have a 77 and i just put on headers with hooker pipes. The first problem is that the pipes I got dont fit with the turbo 400 trans so I was wondering if there was any way to make them work since im not able to return them. Also I noticed that the pitch of the passenger side header is angled down just alittle bit which when I tried to run the pipes they end up scraping the ground. What Ihave come up with was to take the pipes that are supposed to go in the back and connected them to the headers so the pipes curve out and run along the side of the frame. If anyone has some more ideas for running the pipes it would be very helpful.

Okay, to be clear, you mean side mount headers and side pipes right? Can you post pics of what you're talking about? Sorry if I'm a bit confuses as to what's going on.

here is the part number for the headers : Hooker Headers 16521HKR

and yes ill take some pics of what im trying to explain, i should have the posted monday since im out of town right now.

Here is a link to the what the pipes look like. since the straight ones wont fit because the bend in the pipe hits the trans, so i started to mock up the other ones that go in the very back and connected them to the headers so they go straight alittle then curve out the sides right before the rear tires. At first I wasnt going to put mufflers back on it but now I think I may want to, so im going to need to run the pipes to the back.
