New trans install ?
3 gallons is about what you need for a fill, maybe a tad shy, but buy that much......freeking un bee leeve able amount of fluid....
My records show that the BTO 2004R holds 11 quarts plus approx. 1 quart in the converter. I suggest firing it up for a few seconds to pump fluid into the converter and then checking your fluid level. While BTO says to prime the converter by adding fluid to it, you've got to also understand that your tranny lines and rad are going to be empy upon startup. BTW, did you also remember to use BTO's recommendation of a temp aux. trans fluid filter to be used for the 1st 500 mile?Just FYI, when building my 79 I had to install a new 4-core rad due to the old one being junk and it always ran perfect temps. With the BTO I had trouble keeping the trans temps below 160* and ending up installing an aux. trans cooler in front of the rad. I cut out a cardboard template of the biggest size that would fit there and then ordered the largest aux cooler of those approx. dimensions. Now trans temps even on the hottest days in stop & go traffic with the AC running never exceed BTO's recommend temps.
