Default Head decision...

Hey gus I made my head choice n the winner is the Edelbrock performer rpm's....My question is should I use these heads or go with the performer heads.....Right now I have a big set of old gm cast heads with a 118 chamber that the tech. from Summit said is to large for my pistons...So he sugessted I go with a 100 chamber to match my pistons..[SP-L2399F40]...to get a cr around 10.1 to 1...But the tech from Edel. said I would be ok with the RPM'S which have a 110 chamber size......So I ask you guys for some help on decieding which is the better head...Thanx...Jerrylee///

13.8cc dome, speed pro says 9.7 comp. with a 106.9cc chamber head, if speed pro is correct another 3.1cc added to the cylinder with a 110cc chamber probably drop the comp. to at least 9.5. 9.5 compression with an aluminum head is nothing to get excited about, just guessing but if you buy the heads complete the 110 cc rpm head may be set up with hydraulic roller springs, the 100cc chamber performer head could be set up with hydraulic flat tappit springs. if your buying them bare the spring stuff does not matter Believe with an aluminum head you should shoot for 10.0/10.2 comp. even with a mild cam. Performer rpm oval 110cc chamber and the performer 454-0 high compression 100cc chamber both have the same 290 runner the same 219/1.88 valves, looks like the only difference is the chamber size maybe the valve spring setup, DON'T CHEAT yourself out of compression with an alumnum head if you don't have to, pretty good size money investment to leave compression on the table.
