Default 1975 Vette/Hood Clearance Question....

Hey guys,

Im not all up to par on the clearance issues on the vettes. If a newer Vortec motor is installed on a 1975 Vette are there hood clearance issues to look out for with say a Weiand Dual Plane Intake?

Thanks in advance

Brandon.

I know this isn't a direct answer to your question but I have a 75 w/ZZ4, Brodix heads and Weiand intake + QJet and no problems, plenty of room.

Vettes in 1975-1979 had a slightly higher hood. Even a Performer RPM manifold with a Q-jet or Holley and a 14x3 air filter will clear as long as a dropped base air cleaner is used.

Don't forget to use the "plumber's putty" test to see exactly how much clearance you have.

1975 Corvette, stock hood, Performer RPM Q-Jet 7104, Q-Jet, Low Profile Moroso Racing Aircleaner with 3" filter.

3/4" clearance at the front of the aircleaner.

Just had to dimple the base a little for clearance with the accelerator pump arm.

Would there be any issues with the radiator installing a serp pully kit?

Nope. I just built and helped install a Vortec 350 in a 1974 Vette. This Vette though has a Stinger hood, which has LESS clearance than the stock hood and an RMP intake and GM F-body serp fits just fine. You'll have plenty of room for the crank pulley and power steering pulley, and if you flip the smog delete pulley it'll clear the upper A-arm.
