The steering has always been "twitchy" on my car. The past owner installed an Fbody serpentine belt. Last night while pluming in my new hydrobooster I realise that they didn't change the power steering pump flow control valve when installing the 92 Camaro power steering pump. Does anyone know where I can get a new valve. I need one that is 16mm-1.5 so I am guessing an 80-83 would work.
I have already had the car on the alignment rack a couple times.
If you increase the flow coming from the pump it will change the feel of the steering.
Oh, I misread your post. I thought it read steering control valve, it said flow valve oops I agree with you, it's the flow valve (I put that in my reply)
Don't know where to get one. For that reason I have a KRC pump, they have many different valves.
More shims equals less pressure.
From Mullins instructions:
"Pressure Chart
The following chart is for reference only different pumps may vary pressures. Mustang rack and pinions generally require Approx 1000PSI.
No Shims 1350PSI
1 Shim 1200PSI
2 Shims 1100PSI
3 Shims 1000PSI
4 Shims 850PSI
5 Shims 700PSI"
Note: these shims are in addition to the shims already in a stock pump according to Tom at Mullins.
