Rookie mistake...I broke the seal in my brake caliper, instead of removing it , and after bleeding the brakes I developed air in the line. I never messed with the piston rings so my guess is the small o-ring that seals the two caliper halves isn't sealing any longer. I have a bunch of generic o-rings in the barn but I don't know if DOT4 brake fluid will dissolve them. I really don't want to buy a whole rebuild kit just to get one small o-ring. Does anyone know if brake fluid is likely to dissolve this ring? Going to go myself in the head now!
Check to make sure the rubber compound is either
Ethylene Propylene (EPR) or Styrene Butadiene (SBR)
If the guys at the auto place don't know, go to an
industrial supply company
