Default Quad Rebuild?

I am considering rebuilding my quadrajet. When I bought the car and tore it down it was running fine but with a 150k plus miles I do not know when it was freshened up last. I have read all the great comments about Lars ability and respect that greatly but time has become short. I may end up sending to you later Lars (after I botch it up) .
Anyway first should I even bother rebuilding? I would tune afterwards using Lars paper. If I should rebuild how hard is it? I have had engines apart and one carb many years ago. Thoughts?

From my experience a Q-jet is a very good carb if rebuilt and adjusted correctly, they are very difficult. After I blotched mine up I had to buy a rebuilt carb from Jet performance. I would sent it to LARS and save the aggravation. Unless you just like to look at something and wonder what the hell you think you're trying to do.

Send it to Lars and you will have a great carb. However with the papers he writes, in the easy to read format he uses, I would rebuild it myself and you will probably be happy with the results.

How long do you have? If you have a couple of weeks, contact Lars and see if he can get to it within your time frame. Also, send him carb and distributor so they can be rebuilt and tuned together. All that will cost you less than an auto parts carb. e-mail him at V8fastcars@msn.com .

Default Carb refresh.

Let me give credit to Lars, he is one of the best, but if your talking about a basic refresh, a new accelerator pump, new float, new needle and seat and gaskets and you don't have a unsolved problem than get a Napa Echlin rebuild kit, a nitro fill float, a new fuel filter and use the correct gaskets and you should do OK.
Whats the worst that can happen, if it's worse than when you started than Lars will fix it properly, or you rebiuld it yourself and have the satisfaction of knowing that you have done it yourself and saved a few bucks. PG.
