New problem!! I read some of the previous threads on this and here is what I've tried to get my wipers working..
1. I disconnected the connector to the wiper motor housing (3 wires)
2.removed the cover from the wiper motor gear housing,
3. jumped 12v from the starter to the middle prong where the connector would normal seat, grounded the other two prongs, then regrounded the cap ground. Used multimeter verified there was 12v and that the grounds where indeed grounded.
4. turned on the wipers still nothing...
I did however hear a clicking in what I think is the relay near the gear when I switched the wipers on/off, behind the connector. I can see where the motor shaft comes through from the bottom has a worm shaft that turns the big gear and turns the wiper arm under the cowel don't know what else I'm missing...
Anyone see anything I'm missing or do I need a new wiper motor..?????
do everything as above, see if the motor frame/mount is grounded, ie any potential to the engine block....if it does...there is a black ground wire on the starter about 10 ga mistakenly hooked to the battery post positive...and it should be hooked to engine ground....
I think I verified the ground, using an ohmeter going 1 test point to ground 2nd test point to ground wire - connected to wiper assembly...? I think my grounds are good. no open load.
fyi they worked fine up untill a couple days ago, I was digging around the fuse box checking fuses (yep wiper fuse is good all were good..) but I'm wondering what in the fuse panel "area" might cause wiper to not work.. Did I bump/unplug something?
Is the relay for the wiper in the jack storage area, saw a thread for an '80 wasn't sure if my 82 is in the same location..?
Not sure if '82 are same as '76 but I once had a bad ground on the wiper switch itself, because the wipers use a ground switch method, the switch needs to be grounded good for it to work. Sometimes the dash bezel looses groubding with time, so the best way is to provide an earth wire to the switch base.
