What about this-

LS376/515 Crate Engine (19171225) It weighs 414 lbs (aluminum block-6 bolt cross bolted main caps)-so no suspension work required. Oil pan will fit w/o modification.

Carb- so no fuel injection, drive by wire woes-no O2 sensosr- fuel return line etc... A low pressure electric fuel pump in the back at the tank is all that’s required (also needed if you go w/ a GENVI Big Block).

For the ignition-just plug a $350 MSD box in and you can adjust the timing via several pre-programmed curves-nothing else needed except 12 volts.

Motor mounts are sold buy a supporting vendor for well less than $100- Headers are also available from Speedhound.

Get a Tremec T56 six-speed and hydraulic clutch is easy-just need a master cylinder-lots of clutches and flywheels to choose from. Crossmember mod required but if your talking lot’s of HP- that’ll probably be a given small or big block.

The engine is supposed to be available this summer for about $7K. Includes coil packs, intake and exhaust manifolds-just add carb.

It's not six hundred horsepower BUT it's several hundred pounds lighter-looks to be really streetable with the lift of only .525 and will run all day on 92 octane w/ 10.7 compression ratio plus fit under your stock hood.

I was hoping that with the aluminum heads and intake the weight would be close enough to a small block that I woldn't need to redo the suspension.
I just have a hard time trusting engine builders who are not smart enough to proof read their advertisement. It states some wrong flow numbers.

I just talked to World. They have the new Warhawk engines.
http://www.theengineshop.com/prods_p...eetengines.htm

They are LS based, 427cu in,454cu in or 481 cu in, 600hp- 750 hp. Their version has the provision to use either LS or gen I small block mounts motor mounts and it looks like the heads are drilled to accept Gen I or LS brackets. It is a little out of the price range I was looking at but a SWEET engine all the same

Rick, I did a sb/bb w/ iron heads swap in a 74 without any spring swap. It felt better handling corners because of the lower stance. The car sat just over an inch lower in the front w/ the BB and leveled the car out.

Two things, is that not a dry sump motor, meaning you are going to be stuffing more components into the engine bay for the dry sump oiling system.

Number two, those engines fricken ugly compared to nicely done up Gen 1 small block or big block

Take a look at my sig, my 427 should make over 650Hp and 600ft/lbs and still be a pleasure to tool around town in traffic ( read streetable ), I am not guaranteeing that will be the case, but I should know in a month or less

It ain't cheap though, with scattershield and correct carb and headers etc. etc you are getting into the 15grand neighbourhood

I got stroked by Mr Bill Mitchell and I lost trust in them. Like how can you sell me a "dynoed" motor that you can't even rotate because every rod hit cam lobes. Maybe it was built on Friday afternoon, But then don't hassle me over your stupidity

I thought about one of those Schafiroff motors also.... What sucks is, if the 595hp 434 is say $9k, you have to pay MORE money to get a hyd roller to make less power and you have to pay MORE money to get the compression lowered so it runs on 91 camel whiz.... So my 595hp $9k motor is now a 550hp over $10k motor? UMMM....NO.

I do like their packages though. There is a local here with one of the 700hp 540s and he swears by it. He drives it all over town but he doesn run some race gas in it. He won't tell me what it runs but...its in a 69 chevelle with a Th400. I would think it would HAVE to run bottom 10s....the car is setup pretty well.

I drive all over with 11.8 compression on super unleaded. I've never had a hint of rattle. But just for fun when I'm racing I run 50/50 super unlead with 110 leaded race gas.

Did they warranty your motor George? Wasn't Bill Mitchell in charge of Corvette in the 70's, that is just shameful...Obviously they didn't dyno the motor if the rods were hitting and frankly, they should be able to clearance those rods like clockwork as the 427 is a standard motor they build.
