Are the front and rear tires the same distance apart from the left side to right side?
If I ran a piece of string from the rear of the rear tire and across the center so it just barley touches the front of the rear tire, where would it touch on the front tire?

It may or may or may not hit the front tire, since the rear wheels have to be aligned just like the fronts. If the rear points inward slightly, then the string will hit the front tire. If they were perfectly straight, the string would miss the front tire.
I think you are asking - what are the front and rear track dimensions? For 1971 the dimensions are:
Wheelbase: 98", Track: 58.7" Front / 59.4" Rear
so the rears are slightly farther apart than the fronts.
Thanks Z-man.
Thats what I wanted to know, I wasn't sure how to phrase it.
My left rear tire aligns straight with the front tire, but the right rear aligns about 1/2 " outside of the front.
