Default c3 exhaust system

hi,could someone give me some advice on fitting a performance exhaust and headers to my 78 pace car to make it sound like a top fuel dragster(maybe) and which is the best system to use ie,headers, exhaust and mufflers, thanks guys

I don't think any exhaust will make you little 350 sound like a nito methane blown mega inch dragster. In addition, your stock cam will not provide you with the hot rod drive-in lumpy idle sound you are probably after. Hooker side exhausts always sound loud and can be nasty with the right engine combo. If you are after under car exhaust, some guys like the chambered exhaust for a muscle car sound. You can find that system at Allens exhaust http://www.allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com/

Forgot to add header info in addition to the hooker side mounts. The Hedman elites fit very well and can be had with the ceramic coating, have a very thick flange too. BTW, if you go with Hooker Sides, you'll more than likely want to run the STS baffles and not the crappy Hooker ones.

You can also buy a chambered exhaust from mid america motoroworks. I bought my chambered exhaust from midamerica motoroworks and it sounds great and fit great. You can buy either a set-up that will bolt up to stock manifolds or a set to connect to headers. I did the stock manifold set up so I don't know much about the header set-up. I can try to get a video of my car before and after of the exhaust if you would like. It is alot deeper and louder than other exhausts (magnaflow) but it sounds deep and throaty. I like it.

for that sound you need a different cam.
I have stock 2-1-2 exhaust, old mufflers, and a lumpy cam

I have a 78 L-82 4speed, mostly stock with true stainless duals (2.5in), monza turbos, no emissions at all, Holly 4175, and some other minor mods. I added McJack's shorty headers about 6 months ago and they are a piece of art. They are definitely an improvement over the stock manifolds and the exhaust definitely picked up some airflow at higher RPM's with zero engine or ground clearance issues which is why I was interested in them for the street. They hook directly up to stock pipes in the original location. I used lock washers and high temperature loctite on the header bolts and have had zero issues with leaks. The headers also have a nice thick flange for sealing and are custom made by Jack, not farmed out. Let me know if you want more feedback PS-I am in Tiverton, Rhode Island so as a fellow Rhodie I might run into you some time in our "big" state.

I have the Mid America Chambered exhaust on my 1970 and i absolutely love the sound. Loud enough at idle and very loud when you get on it.

Here is a video I took
