technically yes, it was the first one I got, but I drove a jetta for the first year I had my licens while i worked on the vette. Now i try to alternate, and eventually would like to phase out and sell the jetta. Once I finish all the big work on the vette and feel safe driving it daily, the jetta will go.

1st car was a '50 Olds "88" 4dr in 1955...cost $600.
Didn't get the '62 Vette until '67...cost $1600 w/4 spd & 2 tops.

Yes. '69 350-350 with hooker sidepipes. I am?/was one of those 18 year olds that bought a Vette for GASP $3,500
A guard rail jumped in front of it.
BTW they make guard rails higher than the front end of a Vette. The vertical support post stopped the car and spun it. I also had to pay for the guard rail that totaled my car.
During this short time of ownership I managed not to kill myself, I still marvel at that. Top speed was 147 in the red line(still had some). I came out of this with the habit of buckling my seat belt. If I don't I feel like something is wrong. I apparently had the reputation for speeding.
The delayed headlights were handy. I put the base sticker on the headlight side and shut the engine off with one light up. NO stickers on my bumper!
Now I have a '68 427 with the "factory sidepipes"
Never sell!!!!!!!! Everyone who does always regrets it.

Nope, 62 Impala SS, 327 vette motor, hurst 4 speed, 4.10 rear, crager SS mags, carter carb. Vette was my 4th car, 67 coupe427/435 out of Memphis Tn, cost ..... $2200.00....to be back then. :lol:

68 Firebird 350 then a 67 Firebird 400, 70 Camaro, 68 Triumph GT6, 240Z, 280Z, 300Z, 84 Vette, and now -71 Vette and 70 LT-1 (94 Blazer and RV on the side)

Nope- it was a 1972 Plymouth Duster which I stuck a 340 into as the slant 6 wasn't enough to satisfy my performance urges. I had to tweak the torsion bars and by the time someone bought it away from me, the rear diff was making slightly strange sounds.
Next was a 71 GMC Sprint (same as El Camino) with a 327 all done up nice. I had a hard time getting that one to hook up; all it wanted to do was burn the tires.
Then was the, well, you get the idea.

It is/was indeed. Used to be my mom's and she bought a new one, so I get the old one. Still trying to fix it up while I drive. Just got some fun stuff for my car like a new car cover and some wheel locks. Maybe a cd player in the works too.

Nope 53 Studebaker here. Bought a 58 Vette in 66 What a tough Car Used to burn the tires off that thing . Had a 283 with Dual Quads Wish I had that car now.

No..but it was my second. First was a VW :smash: :smash: . What a POS!!
Fortunately I gained wisdom and dumped it after six months and my second car was a '69 Daytona Yellow convertible. 350/350 with a 4-speed. I've had a succesion of Vettes ever since. Of all the ones I've owned that '69 was my favorite :yesnod:, but I'm becoming very fond of my C5 too :D

My first car was a 1963 Jaguar "E" Type roadster back in 1975. Some people called them XKE's. Fun car , but sometimes frustrating to work on. Who thought up the positive ground electrical system? :rolleyes:
By the way, I am sitting here typing this while I'm waiting for my kids to wake up. I've got the camera on one side and the camcorder on the other. :)

My first car was a 1984 Blazer. Stripped, no A/C, ST-10, 4.10 rear end, 4x4, power-steering delete, 2.8 liter (high output for 1984) rated at 123 hp, actually closer to 68(determined from 1/4 mile tests). My first street transportation was a 1981 Honda CM400E, the ugliest, most reliable motorcycle ever, IMHO. My second transportation was a 1988 Honda Shadow, slightly less reliable, but 500% better looking.
When kids I know ask me if a Vette would be good a first car, I laugh at them. :) Not only will they kill themselves, but maintenance is ridiculous. My advice is always to get a nice Honda, then when you graduate college, get a Vette. I wish thats what I had done.

I wish!!! My first car was a 78 Toyota Corolla that had just been peeled off of a culvert. It had no bearings left in the bottom end and the front end was crinkled up. I drove it home with enough RPMs to keep oil pressure up, then went to work on it. A little creative hammer work on the front, and a set of rings and bearings in the motor, and a clutch, and I was off. I paid $75 for that car. It's all I could afford when I was 14. I guess looking back now, it was a good learning experience, and I'm glad my parents didn't buy me a car. Now I can say I did it myself. :D

Nope. My first car was a 1976 Ford Gran Torino w/351w. It was gold in color and had a gash down the rigth side of the car that ran almost the entire length of the car. I paid $150 dollars for it and it lasted 2 weeks before the transmission died on it :) Before that car I only owned motorcycles.
