Thanks to the folks at Willcox for directions, assistance, and lots of encouragement in this life learning experience.

Thanks to the folks at Corvette America for a great turn around and willingness to help me get this job done.

Tomorrow we install the center console, right pad, window trim and then move on to lower console, carpet and install the seats.

We continue to make progress on the dash rebuild.
Here we have installed all the gauges, lenses, clock, new stereo and installed the upper center console. It went in pretty smoothly. We then installed the right dash pad and secured it with all the screws. We also put the trim in place and here is how it looked.

We then had a nice lunch and decided to put the lower console together including the new shift boot, ****, spring, chrome, new air conditioning controls, new lighter, ashtray, door, shift indicator and lenses. After we had it all together we installed the lower console in place and ran in to an alignment issue. Here I am showing what we are seeing.

We double checked the installation of the upper console to the pads and everything there seems to be fitting well so we are not certain what to adjust to get the chrome stripe from the upper to lower console to line up.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks and best regards,

David and Adam Howard

Dave and Adam;
There should be a 2 screws going to the gauge bezel from the front of the console..These screws go up into the center bezel from bottom on each side.
This should help align the two parts.......Hope it solves your problem

Thank you, we are backing off the mounting screws and will attach the top screws first. Then we will gingerly move the lower console in to place and screw it down. It turn out, that we had attached a bracket to the back of the new radio to keep it secure and it was preventing us from moving the upper console any further to the left. We will fix that error tonight and will try it again. With luck I'll be able to show completed pics tonight as well.

Thanks for the tip, it helped us think through what we did wrong.

Best regards,

David and Adam

Depending on how much you are replacing let me know if I can offer any advice. It turned out that our lower left dash pad was already broken before I got in to it and I didn't know that until it was way too late to do anything but replace it. Sequence we followed to remove was lower console, upper console, window trim, right pad, upper pad, left pad.

When we put it back together we did it slightly differently. Left pad first, then top pad, then upper console, then right pad, window trim, then lower console.

Willcox has a write up on how to perform this if you are going all the way to the lower left pad.

We also replaced speakers in the upper dash pad, used Pioneer two ways and they sound great with the 6 X 9's we put in the back as well. I have been taking pictures through the whole process so let me know if you need anything.

Good luck with your project.

Great suggestion, thank you. We took the screws out, removed the stereo support bracket, attached the top two screws, then aligned the top console and screwed it in place, aligned the lower console and screwed it in place and then we attached the emergency brake bracket and pad. Done.
Adjusted and top screws attached.

So we are done with the dash and center console.

Tomorrow we start the weather stripping replacement on the doors, engine and T Tops. But enough on this post, thank you to all that have helped, it is much appreciated.

Best regards,
