Default New wheels!

My C5 wheels and run flats I got off the for sale section of this forum came in!!!!!

So I went to put them on, with the spacers that he sent with them and.....BOO FREAKING HOO, they don't fit.

Couple reasons.

On the rear, the leaf spring is original, and tired, sagging. So, it actually kinda rubs on the inside of the wheel well. That will be fixed with the suspension kit I ordered from VBP. Also, it seems the spacers are too small. The back of the tire rubs against the frame section. So, I decided to use 2 spacers, for double the distance, and it works, but it's pretty darn close. Does this mean I need to order spacers twice as wide as I have, or double up th ones I have? The spacers say exactly
5-4.75/5-4.75 on them. Not sure what that means, but they are 3 inches wide. What size spacers have other's used to get the C5 wheels to work?

Be careful about using runflats without a tire pressure monitoring system (TPS). I was going to use runflats and it was highly recommended that I do not unless I install a TPS system which can be bought for about $350 from Tirerack. Everybody told me on the C5/6 forum that you really can't tell when you get a flat with the runflats and so when you do get a flat you be driving and over heat the tire causing catastrophic tire failure...at least this is what they all said.

I had heard that, but I was also told that if you just check the pressure manually from time to time, you should be fine.

Only reason I'm using run flats, though, is they came with the wheels, and it was kinda too good a deal to pass up. So, once they are shot, plain jane low pros are going in their place.

I would never run spacers... and at that thickness you are asking for trouble on the road. Will you be replacing your studs with stronger ones?

No......

I'm kinda confuses here. I have read a lot of posts from people that run C5 wheels with no problems...All they needed were the spacers. What gives? Where are those people now, lol?

so you're saying you stacked the spacers/adapters? (like, two on one wheel hub?)

are they individually 3" wide or 3" wide with the two spacers together?

i think most with the c5 wheels are running 2.75" adapters on the rears. One of ya'll correct me if I'm wrong.

Not stacking them. Each one is 3 inches wide. 3inches, however, won't get it to clear the frame, the back of the wheel will rub.....is my car just different, or something?

I think the 5-4.75 is a 5-lug pattern on 4.75 inch diameter. Spacers are not a big deal normally (i've not done exactly what you're doing), but the hardened studs are definitely a good idea. Stacking seems like asking or trouble that could be easily avoided.

Thanks for the info. I'm not doing anything yet, not until I have received and installed my suspension kit from VBP. I think have a none 30 year old, sagging suspension will make a difference, as well.

you are absoutely correct, 5-4.75 is the lug/bolt pattern, ie the space/distance between each lug/bolt...a lot of guys on here are running spaces, but I agree I would not stack them...
