Default C3 header issues

I have a 72 with a newly installed 425 HP small block. The car had a set of old Hooker headers and I was so impressed in the way they fit that I decided to go with Hookers ceramic coated units. Unfortunately, the new ones don't fit as well as the old ones. I contacted Hooker directly to get the correct part # and ordered them from Summit. the right side hits the idler arm and the left side collector runs into the floorpan. The muffler shop said they could modify them by shorteneing the collectors and dimpling the other clearance issues. Summit will take them back but I can't find a decent replacement. the muffler shop recommended JBA shortys but after talking directly to JBA, even they aren't confident they'll fit.

One would think that as many C3s that are out there, someone would have perfected it by now.

Any experience with Stans Tri-y?

Suggestions?

Stan's tris are very popular and have an excellent rep for fit. Hedman Elites should fit no problem. The cheap Summit ones fit awesome too.
