My compressor died last summer and I hope to get a new one. I'm looking for a compressor that will fit the 1975 and it doesn't have to be "original remanufactured" but also something newer would work (either way is fine with me but I don't want to spend top dollar) Can you guys point me in the direction where I could purchase it, ebay or anywhere else (links?). It seems like it's hard to find compressors for that year.
There are tons of the original A6 compressors around, both new and used. Your local auto parts dealer can help. The used ones are under a $100 and the new ones around $300.
I bought at remanufactured one at AutoZone about a year ago for my 75. So far it's been working like a champ. I think I paid $85 for it.
Good luck with it.
So I'm assuming an "A6" compressor will fit correct, and that's what I should look for rather than "1975 Corvette compressor". Sorry, I'm not very handy with mechanics, and don't do much on my car besides interior renovation. I love the car though
The A6 is the original type compressor that came with the '75 along with probably millions of other GM cars/trucks from the '50's to the mid '70's. It is a long (in physical size) compressor as compared to most others. It will bolt right in as long as someone hasn't made alterations to your Vette or Bubba hasn't fixed the a/c for you.
