Default exhaust size?

600 hp,street car exhaust size. should i use 3 inch or 2.5? with X pipe or H pipe? exhaust shop guy says 2.5 is good to 700 hp. i figured it needed 3", but there is not much ground clearance with 3" so what do you guys think. going to get it done tues. thanks

Yep....2.5" will handle 700Hp if you only want it to make 500 when capped up.

Go for as big as you can put under it. 3" fits fine if done properly and even it will cut it back somewhat. Use the X pipe.

I can tell you that 3" chokes my 800HP pretty bad.

I'm going to build a new crossmember and use some oval pipe to get 3.5" or 4" under mine.

500 HP is about max for 2 1/2. I have just at 500 HP and run a 2 1/2 but anything more I would get a 3 inch. 600 HP needs 3 inch exhaust

600 Hp dictates 3" exhaust. Even then it will feel somewhat choked. At that HP level, everything that helps breathing will be needed...including low resistance crankcase breathers.

There is less room, but 3" pipes can be fitted on a C3.
3" with Magnaflows....

I had a 3" exhaust but switched over to 3 1/2"

This is what my set up looked like and Im selling the x pipe as shown if your interested send me a PM its a magnaflow cross over, with cut outs.






Made to fit stock cross member.

3" is what i thought. hopefully it will be done tomorrow, then i can finally drive my car. been 15 months since i started working on it. thanks for the replies
