Default How Fast Will I Go?

Recently got into the 11s. Goal is to get into 11.5s. Do you think I wll make it this year. Don't plan on making any more major changes, or at least spend much more money.

Best run was an 11.959 @ 115 on a hot muggy day. Best mph was 116.82 before our most recent weight reduction. Car now weighs 3110 with driver.

Don't expect much till the weather turns cooler, but I figure the car makes enough power to get me there. Can I make it happen?

Inadvertantly posted twice. Want to give the correct one a bump and let the other one go away.

Hmmm I've got the same set up as you built 400sb. I have yet to run her as I am dialing in other things on the car. I've got a 9" rear end with 4 link coil sus with 350 turbo and 295's(think that is 11.8 " that's what I have been told). Wish you we're closer as we could run beside each other at the strip. Now you've got me itchin to run mine. Btw sweet lookin ride.

I read your specs. Well kind of. You have a 400 or so ci. Your heads only say Air Flow, so how many cc's are they? You don't say what type of SR cam.

But your intake choice is for small port heads and 8 inch rear slicks might also be a limitation.

So you're looking to pick up almost 4 tenths based on better air alone. That might be a little optimistic. I agree with GrandSport - 11.65, in November. Keep us posted.

Figure the air will give me a little something, also think better driving will get me some. Only just started to get some good 60 foots in the low 1.7s. It's a manual so there has been some inconsistency with launch and shifts could always be better.

Cam is a crane mechanical roller, lift is 350 intake 362 exhaust. duration is 286 intake 294 exhaust. Harland Sharp 1.6 roller rockers.

The heads are AFR, about 10 years old from when my old man put the thing together. 190cc on the intake, don't know the rest.

I'm sure that launching your car is challenging, but I think with your kind of power and weight, 1.6 times for 60 ft would be a reasonable goal. That should take 2 tenths off your ET, even in the summer air.

Update....

this weekend ran a new best of 11.85.

Ran 11.87 , 11.86 and 11.85 between 117 and 117.85 mph

The 11.85 came in a breakout loss where I lifted so mph was off.

Air is getting better, no changes yet, it's been a while since I have been to the track with the slicks and front runers. Have gone since my last post a few times over the summer with the heavier drag radials and regular front tires.
