Default Carb Stamping Decode

I'm trying to verify the numbers on a newly acquired 1970 L46 that's so far very original. I've run into a snag on the Carb. It's a Carter/Rochester Q-jet with GM stamping 7040200. Most online resources list 7040207 as the correct number, but this one lists the 7040200 as being used on 1970 chevelles and vette (maybe BB), but is difficult to read.

All help is appreciated.

According to Corvette Black Book, 7040207 is the correct carb for the 350/350 with manual tranny. It does not show the 7040200 on any '70 Vette.

In looking at the site you refer to, the info was produced by Lars. Why not contact him regarding the numbers?

Looks like a '70 BBC carb.

Mark,
I looked at the NCRS 68-72 Tech Manual and it calls for 7040207 for a 70, 350/350, 4 speed. So I agree with Jud.
Regards,
Alan

Default Thanks for the help guys

You've convinced me to find my copy of "Corvette by the Numbers" that I bought about 15 years ago when I wanted to buy my first vette.

Thanks again,
Mark
