Vacuum advance correct P/N ?
This might be a question for Lars.
The vacuum advance diafragme was gone when I got my 68 big block Vette.
I bought a new one from GM , P/N 1115360.
Is this the correct one for my engine setup ?
It's a original 68 camaro 396 CI 375 HP engine, now bored and stroked to 454 CI. It has the original L71 heads with 2.19/1.88 Valves and the solid lifter cam .520/.520 lift 242/242 duration at .050 , 114 degree lobe centerline angle.
Single point distributor.
Hooker headers and side exhaust.
Unfortunately a to small carb , Holley 650 CFM double pumper mechanical, no choke.
So , is this vacuum advance ok and may be , somebody can also give me the complete adjusting ( timing ) figures.
Thanks a lot and happy new year. Gunther :seeya

I'm e-mailing you a bunch of info on vacuum advance and timing that you may find interesting. Contact me with any questions. Also - I ship a lot of parts to Amcar owners in Europe - let me know if you need anything and I'll send it out to you.

I might take use of your offer to either overhaul my distributor, or possibly better, I might buy a new one, electronic triggering for my 68 Vette.
I also need a bigger carb, so I might also request your help on this later on.
The car presently has a double pumper mechanical, no choke HOLLEY 650 CFM installed. I think far to small for the 454 block with the L71 heads.
What do you think would be the best carb for this engine ?
It'sn a 4 speed manual M21 close ratio with 3.70 rear end.
I think this will be my project for next winter.
This winter, I have other things to do on the car.
Thanks and happy new year. Gunther :seeya

Your stock distributor willl perform very well once properly set up with an aggressive advance curve and 36 degrees of total timing. Pretty tough to beat. An HEI unit, however, is maintenance-free, so it's a matter of what you prefer.
For carbs, the new Demons are really performing great, if you don't mind a non-stock appearing carb. We're seeing noticable power increases with these carbs. A speed Demon 750 vacuum secondary would be a perfect setup for your car if you're running a square-bore intake (Holley style setup).
