Default Reverse magic

It`sbeen a while since I been on the forum, but got a good on today. last year installed a new TCI 400 trans from Summit in the 71. ran for a while than got busy with other things and vette sat in garage till this summer, when I stated driving it again. Last weekend, vette is sitting in driveway ideling, I getting into wife`s van which is parked behind it, so as to get it out of way . All of a sudden vette starts moving in reverse, but real slow, not a roll as is a rising incline at that point in the driveway. No major damage to either one, when they hit, but freaked me the hell out. I check and Shifter is soildly in park, so I rebuild the shifter with new bushing, spings ect. get all back together, start up, touch the gas car shoots back out of garage in reverse. Besides the safty interlock swith that should have not allowing it to even start, I checked the switches and positioning on that when I rebuild the shifter. Never heard of a TH 400 slipping into reverse like this, Any ideas?

SOunds to me like it's not going all the way into park. Inside the tranny. Disconnect the shift cable from the trans and see if it's going all the way in. I'd bet on shift cable adjustment. A 400 has a pin on the inside of the shift selector that engages the shift valve. If it's not installed correctly, it won't go into any gear.
