Default Can Pot Metal be repaired?

On my 81 - the right side rear view mirror support has a split near the base. I understand that this support arm and mirror housing are made out of Pot Metal. Would JB Weld work to fix "POT Metal"? Or should I just look for a better used housing and support arm?

you can get it repaired. most chromers have facilities to do just that. but the quickest way would be to buy a new or used one.trywww.advancedplating.com they are my choice of platers.

It doesn't weld and even when you succeed it deforms.

Chances of repairing it successfully are about 1 in a 100. Replace it (salvage yard, aftermarket, or eBay).

It can be repaired but it will be cheaper and probably better in the long run to get a replacement.

I broke my "pot metal" dash pad support on the left side. Its a u channel that sits right up against the dash pad and the end broke off where it bolts to the body. Any one have one for sale?

Default Alumaloy

Has anyone ever tried Alumaloy?

Have seen this on TV late at night. They rebuild an Alternator mount with this stuff. All you need is a propane torch and imagination....according to them.
