Im trying to keep my 68 as original as possible, but I want to be able to play the radio-a good radio and perhaps cd...

Hurt the value...? Any ideas on what radio to install...?

you can install a 1 din stereo in such a way as to make it easily reversable. you will need a second gauge panel and two new kick panel covers, all will run you about 200, if you cut the panel yourself and install a cosmetic plate. Power the new reciever/cd player from the yellow existing wire for switched power (Acc) and run a 12/14 gauge to the Batt tab in you fuse panel for constant power the new units need. sub in the back secured to something with some nylon coated cable works well for the rear. 2 8" subs would work well, or you can install a modest amp to drive a larger one. Use the sxisting ground wire (blk) for you ground. Converting back is simply a matter of saving and reinstalling the old parts and reconnecting two wires to the orig stereo plug.

Just be sure you can get back to original with limited effort.
