The original plan was for bolt together stand offs so you could remove the body without cutting the frame. Well to do that you would have to cut to big of holes in the body panels. Yes I also considered bolt shear. So it is all welded.
I wanted the rear braces farther back. But the logic was to place them on the level frame aft of the frame wheel well hump. Because that gives a crush and bend zone for rear impact and the cage and cockpit frame wouldn't get tweaked.
Step two Monty is the interior/forward bars tying in up by the A-arms & changes/fire system.
I've been trying to find a remote setup somewhere in the Street Rod aftermarket that will work to eliminate the mechanical interior handle, that way you could run that top bar as close to it as possible.
If you find a solution please let me know, I'll do the same.
Injected - My above the door window bars are inboard of the T-top release handle. The first set they made were under them and they couldn't put my T-tops on and had to redo the top.
shawn_cake - I like that cowl with the heat vented hood. The sparco seats are the " Ultra" They are on the tight side in the lower chest. I would recomend a sparco seat bigger in this area.
Yellow 72 - For colors i'm undecided on black or blue metal flake my car color would be too difficult to ever remake. It's green with gold metal flake in the clear coats. pictures don't do it justice.
I like what you're doing. Are you planning for the next Silver State Classic? If so, can you run your car in the unlimited class or are you restricted to one of the other classes?
Is there a web site for that race?
Thanks.
Last spring I was a course worker. The money has got out of hand. by the time you paided all the fee's and did the Las Vegas road course etc. It's going to cost you $1500-2000 to run. I would not even be competetive in unlimited where cars are running 220-240 mph. Years ago I was in the 150 average class where they allowed me to go as high as 175. Plenty fast on a two lane highway.
Just incase your interested. Now that I have bee driving around I'm doing some changes to the bars. The top hoop is being cut out to raise it up to conform with the T-top panels and the front bar is going farther towards the door. My seat is being lowered and more rearward with 10-15 more degrees.
