What parts will need to instal the Delux Ho 350 330 hp in a 1979 Corvette T10 4spd. Like Flywheel etc. and does anyone have this motor and do You like it.
I needed an electric fuel pump. I also upgraded the engine with the hotcam for around 6 to 7 hundred more to take the engine over 400 in hp and tq. Have GM do the upgrade and you won't regret it.
I've had one for over three years now with no problems. It's not a rocket but it's not bad and it's reliable. As far as a flywheel goes just remember it's externally balanced. The manual you get with the motor will have all the pertinent GM part numbers listed.
As jdmick said, you'll need a GM flywheel. That's no problem, but you may want to upgrade your clutch to handle the extra torque/hp. My 350 HO Deluxe has run flawlessly in my '80 for 6 years. I've never even had a drop of oil under it.
I don't know why you'd need an electric fuel pump. I'm running a Holley mechanical with no problems. I am also running the Holley 600 cfm carb but with jets 4 sizes bigger than original and a more agressive accelerator pump. (I didn't have the jet and accelerator pump problems until I put on full length headers and true dual exhaust.)
I don't know what qualifies as a "rocket", but once you get a 350 HO Deluxe tuned well with full length headers and a true dual exhaust, you can burn rubber in two gears and a chirp in a third. That's close enough to rocketry for me.
I highly recommend recommend a GMPP high torque mini starter to go with it.
The 350 HO Deluxe is by far the best upgrade I made to my '80.
