Default Secondary fulttering

we just finnished a carb rebuild on my dads 74 L-48 and its better, but when he kicks in the secondary vlaves it starts to flutter, anyone know whats causing this and how to fix it?

It is probably leaning out. Make sure you are getting fuel to the secondary accelerator wells and on to the secondary accelerator ports. Make sure the choke pull off is operating properly. Set the secondary air valve preload at 3/4 of one turn. Make sure the timing is not severely retarded.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but how do you know if the secondaries are opening properly when driving the car?

you can hear them open, and its a marger surge of power when you go WOT, kinda hard to tell from driving you can rev it and see if they open
