ECM / Engine light
Hi folks: I finaly got my engine light bulb working. I ran a diagnostic using the paper clip trick and found the ecm to be working properly. However, I received to error codes. It first flashes 3 times then flashes 4 times then the cycle repeats itself. According to my chart I think it is a O2 sensor and a coolant temp sensor. Could andone advise if this is right or what the these error codes mean. thanks

I assume you have an 82.
Sounds like a code 34 which is MAP sensor. Check the 5V going to the MAP sensor. If that is good, peform this test:
Disconnect MAP sensor vacuum line from engine and plug the line. Idle speed should increase. If not replace the sensor.

I wouldnt assume the codes are identical between 81 to 82. Better look up the codes for the 81. The GM Helms shop manual should help or even an internet search might turn up something.
