New brakes everything new and I drive down the road and I sound
like a dump truck coming to a stop how do I get rid of this?
Thanks
Todd
Is it one particular wheel or all of them? What brand pads did you buy? Some harder pads tend to make more noise. I know this sounds bad, but did you happen to get one or more of the pads in backwards? It's possible to do and it makes noise like you're describing.

Hey DB
no the pads are in right and the pads a raybestos and they are all making noise
I had similar squeeling on another non-Corvette car and I solved the problem by taking the pads out and using my bench grinder to bevel the leading and trailing edge of the pads. Completely stopped my noise. Fwiw, I used about a 30 degree angle, or so.

That was my next suggestion. Remove the pads and bevel the leading edges with a grinder or file, and clean everything up with brake cleaner before re-installing.

They came with bevelled edges and a grove down the center of the pad

Go to the auto parts store and buy a set of "organic" brake pads for the front and rear, you won't need to do anything to them, they work right out of the box.... (They are cheap also).
I had the same problem I was using semi-metallic, my vette sounded like a freight train stopping........
I would be careful about sanding or grinding on brake pads, the dust can be very dangerous to breathe, I'm not 100% sure all the asbestos is gone in them.
DO NOT spray anything like "anti-squeal" stuff on your rotors and/or pads. You will just contaminate them. Did you put anything on the back side (metal substrate) of the new brake pads? Every auto parts store has little packets of silicone goop that you spread on the back of the brake pads. Once that stuff starts to set up, install the pads. That goop will dampen any vibrations set up in the brake pads and keep it from transmitting to the car's frame. [I'm amazed that the parts place didn't offer that to you when you bought the pads.]

i did put that goop on and it still did nothing how long before the pads seat them selfs maybe thats all i need to do is put a few hundred miles on it with my foot on the brakes you dont think the spray would help?
what about these

Total cost for all four wheels about $30.00
I have tried all kinds of stuff, the bottom line is, it doesn't work......
Organic brake pads work great for your street driven vette, it will stop just as fast as some of the fancy metallic brake pads, another benefit is that the organic pads are easy on the rotors, won't ruin the rotors like some of the harder metallic pads do....
If you are road racing or auto crossing, then I won't rcomend using organic pads, they will fade if they get really hot...........
