Default 1991 Zr1

Ran across a 1991 ZR1 w/17000 original miles. The car is in great condition. He is asking 35,000 for it. What are these things worth these days?

that cragslist car is a 1992 which is the 405hp car... and is half the price...with double the miles.

I say the 1991 is pretty high. Those cars are kind soft right now. besides... check Rogers Corvettes in Maitland Florida (Orlando) he has like 5 on them. most with like 50-100 miles on them for about 30,000

Nice car but way over priced. I'd rather just buy a newer model Z06 for that amount of dough

Low twenties is more like it with that mileage assuming it's a real nice car. Buyer's market right now for C4 ZR1-s. Great cars but some parts are difficult to find and expensive.

When did 17,000 miles on a 1991 car become consider a lot of miles? To the other post regarding the florida cars, 50 to 100 miles??? Yea....right.

Don't think anyone said that was a lot of miles. There are quite a few rare corvettes with real low miles. I have seen numerous 1978 Pace cars and 1982 Collectors Edition cars with well under 1000 miles. Some of these were bought with the sole purpous of storing them and selling at a premium price down the line. That money would have been better invested in land or the stock market. If you like the car for $35,000 buy it, but it is about $10,000 too high. JMHO

I am passing. I guess I was under the false impression that ZR1's were more "special" than they are. I guess it must be a buyers market. I also understand that no matter how much you pay for a car there will always be someone that can get it for half as much with 50% fewer miles on it. It pays to look around and not give in to impulse buys.

Yea impulse buys are bad. I did that with my vette. It's taking a lot of cash to get her the way I want, and to fix the many problems. But oh well I guess I will learn eventually. Just keep your eye out

There was an interesting discussion at the NCRS Tech Board a couple of weeks ago. GM is under no legal obligation to produce parts for cars more than 10 years old. And for C4 owners, the repro people are not picking up the slack. So watch out.

Wow that's just about crazy to even fathom paying that much for a C4, I don't care if it's a ZR1 or not. Jeez you can get a year or 2 old Z06 for that and smoke the C4 all day. Crazy times

The C4 ZR-1 was and is a special car, but like anything else it is supply and demand. The early ZR-1s were "only" 375 horsepower and there were lots made in 90 and 91. Of a total of 6939 ZR-1s produced between 90-95 5093 were produced in 90-91 (2044 in 91). After 91 only about 500 were produced each year and in 93 horsepower went up to 405. As already noted many if not most of these cars were bought and held as collectibles so while 17K is low there are many ZR-1s out there with 17K or less. For more ZR-1 info check out the ZR-1 forum in the C4 section or www.zr1netregistry.com.

Are there really C6 Z06s available for $35K?

You were getting me excited. I'm personally hoping for a huge drop in the C4 ZR-1, C5/6 Z06 markets. I'd like one of each.

I wasn't implying that 17,000 miles should be considered high, only that low twenties was about right considering the mileage.

95 miles for 44,900. Sounds crazy but the cars he has are like in a time warp!! Just like factory. Smells like factory in a A/C controlled show room.

I have seen the cars in there... in fact sold him a LT1 C4 pacecar with 11,000 miles about 9 years ago. He still has it.

ZR1's were pretty special (exotic) when they were introduced. But they are very expensive to maintain, and the horsepower available in the far cheaper LT1 and later LT4 pretty much made them obsolete. They were and always will be fairly rare, but overall C4's are not rare which hurts the value. C4's accounted for several "collectibles" starting with the 86 Indy Pace car, the 35th anniversary model, 40th anniversary model, 95 Indy Pace car, and Grand Sport. When you consider that only two C3 "collectibles" were built by Chevy, C4 collectibles were sort of an over kill, and it is reflected in the value of a true exotic like the ZR1.
