HELP...Thermostat temp switch
I've been browsing past posts to find out where to get the 180/165 temp switch.
After two hours,
All I find is a link to the one summit sells.
Is that the only sorce. I'm hopeing to find one at the local parts store.
Can anyone help here?

I'm putting an electric fan setup in my 76 for improved cooling.
The switch i'm refering to is the one that controls the fan on and of by way of temperature in the thermostat housing.
I know it's available threw summit but I would like to get one localy.

Yeh, that's what i'm afraid it's going to come too.
I'm just impatiant, want it now. Not to mention the 1200 mile trip i'm going on in a few days. Want it to run as cool as possible.

as a temporary fix, install a toggle switch in the cabin (i placed one in the driver's side panel that's next to the radio) and use it to control the fan relay. that way, you can turn it on and off at will. also, after the temperature controlled switch is installed, it can be used to turn the fans on if the temp switch dies.

Look up radiator fans or fan wiring in previous posts....
DB has a good paper with diagram for wiring that is foolproof.
Also try....

I agree with the toggle switch concept. I had planed on doing that to bypass the temp switch.
I'm not going to tear into it until I have all the parts, was just hoping that someone had found a temp switch that is available at the local parts store, not special order, from some other GM vehicle.
Ofcoarse by now I could have ordered one from summit and probably be getting it tomarrow. Oh well.
And I have browsed several threads and copied the wiring diagram that was posted, All verry informative.
Thanks,
Eric
