Trying to pull the body from my '73, and the right side #3 body mount nut is spinning in its cage. What have you all found works best to fix this problem. It's soaking in PB right now and has been for the last week.
Anyway you can drill a hole in the cage, slip in say the end of a screw driver to keep the nut from spinning? Also, if you can get something jammed into the cage to keep the nut from spinning, I'd be inclined to use an impact wrench. The big jolt these things deliver can often break a difficult nut loose.
I had a very difficult time with the drivers side #4 mount. What I finally found was that the bolt had been cross threaded in the nut. No way would I have ever been able to unscrew the bolt. (I cut its head off.)
I ussually just take a sawzall (or torch) and cut it from underneath then take an air chisel (or a hammer and chisel) and knock the cage off the nut to pull it up through. Just put a nut with a washer on it when done when installing the new body bolt.
We had 1 #3 mount spinning on the 72 frame. We cut a thin strip in the section covering the mount at the rear wheel well and cut through the bolt. If you are re-using the frame and lifting the body it will be a lot easier to deal with the frozen bolt when you have better access to it.
