Default C5 seats in a C3

Does anyone that has done this one have some photos of your mounts? I would like to keep the drivers side a power seat if possible but if it sits to high will replace the power track with a C5 passenger side manual track.

Glassman74 sent me detailed photos (Thanks Craig!) on his installation but other variations will also be appreciated.

Corvette Fever ran an article four or five months ago where they installed C-5 sport seats in a C-3. The article was very detailed showing how to modify the seat track. They had the seats reupholstered by Mid America with a C-3 logo sewn into the leather material. They looked really nice.

Please post pics when you get them along with any instructions. C5 seats would certainly be an improvement.

I sold a set of 2002's to a customer about 2 years ago for his 68. A friend of mine with a Corvette shop did the install. If I remember right, he removed the tracks from the seat and machined up some spacers, about 1" tall. Put the spacers between the tracks and the seats and bolted the seats in. The biggest issue is getting cleanance under the seats for the motors. I don't know if he took pictures, I'll try to find out.

From what I remember, it's pretty straight forward. Once in, they look great. Funny thing, the size and shape isn't much different than the stock 70-78 seats.

There are several posts with C5 and C6 seats in C3's on the forum.Just do a search and you should find a bunch of info. There definitely is a clearance issue, particularly with the motors. If you are much above 6' you might have a clearance issue with your head. If you have to ditch the power option, most of the folks that have made the switch are using stock C3 tracks. One pair of holes will line up from the tracks to the seat and two new holes will need to be drilled. Easy as that and it will put the seats as low as possible. That's the direction I am going with the my C6 seats in my 71 vert.
