I bought the B&M 70244 Lockup Controller kit for my TH2004R.
The instructions say the red wire is supposed to get 12V, and later references it as switched 12V. I would guess switched 12V but they almost contradict themselves about which it's supposed to be.
I also have a question about the yellow wire. The instructions say that it 'can' be used and that it's 'suggested' that it be used but they don't say why, or what will or won't happen if you do or don't use it.
I'm also not clear how it should wire the yellow wire to the brake light switch, and I would like some tips or a walk through.
The red wire should get 12 volts only with th key in the run position. The black wire needs to connect to a good ground. The brake switch you need should have two sets of contacts, One that is open (the one the brake lights are hooked to) and one that is closed when the brakes are not applied. The yellow wire should attach to the brake switch on one of the post on the contact that is held closed. The other post should be connected to the plug on the trans, (you will need to cut the yellow wire to do this). That way if you step on the brakes it opens the contacts and power is cut to the convertor. If you do not connect it to the brake switch like I said then the convertor will not unlock if you have to hit the brakes hard at high speed.
When the car is running the light will be red, when you get to the speed set by the dial the light will turn green and the yellow wire will become hot causing the convertor to lock up.
