I own a 81', L81. The engine compartment is cluttered with tons of vaccuum hoses and air intake vents. The engine is bone stock, the emissions air pump is still hooked up, however I don't know if it works. Four or five hoses coming from the canister was cut by previous owners.
My question, is there anyway I can clean up and get rid of some of the hoses, the engine runs very good. I plan on remove the plastic air intake scoop over the radiator to the breather and the connecting vynil hoses. Any other suggestions.
some will say do it and other will say dont touch anything if it works. i can tell you that if you want to totally tidy up and 81 engine bay properly your in for $$... thank computers for that. i have been there and done it on an 81.
Wow, Gingerbreadman and Vampyre, those are awesome looking engines - need to add to my wish list. As one of you stated, don't fix anything that's not broken, so I think I'll go the route of Cargo 247.
LeShark, the blower drive on the alternator is over the top! I love it! The alternator belt tensioner the the (Heim?) ends is what I want. Do those have 3/8" holes in them?
