Default Question on how to get some power

I just bought my first car being a 1977 corvette and want a little more power. The engine is only 4 years old and is a replica of the original l-88. I don't have much money, but when I get enough I was thinking of getting new headers and side pipes because it needs a new exhaust anyway. I hope this gives me some power, but i'm not sure it will do much. Any help would be great, thanks.

Let us determine what you have here. If you have a 77 w/ a clone L88 there should be no problem with power. A L-88 is a big block 427, perhaps you mixed up the number & have a clone L-82 (350 small block).

Please determine what you really have & let us know.

Probably a small block but it looks like it says L88 on his hood.

Its a small block 350. I guess some owner before me put the L88 logo on there. The engine is a L82 replica of what it had before, which put out 210 horse power. Sorry about that, I was confused myself.

Yes exhaust will help a lot until you can get more money saved up. If you can't afford side pipes, headers and a 2.5" system with good mufflers will really make a difference too.

Then, when you get more money, you can get almost 100 extra HP out of that engine with a simple head and intake swap. I can outline the Vortec head and intake swap for about $600.

An intake swap and headers with true duals will do wonders for your car. You'll think it was a totally different engine.
