Common problem. Sometimes you can unlock it from inside but working the lock **** and handle at the same time. Other times you have to get a long screwdriver or rod into the door from the top to pop the latch.
Once you get it open, remove the door panel. check the rod ends for the lock, they bend at times. Remove the latch and clean and lube it then adjust the lock and throw without closing the door. Do not close the door until you know it works.

Get inside the car and get the window down. You'll have to peel the door panel off of the top of the door shell so you can see down to the latch assembly. Use a flashlight and a long flathead screwdriver and get a good hard push on the piece in the picture with the arrow. Your screwdriver may slip off a few times, so just stay with it, get a good push, and the door should pop open.
