1980 power door lock failure

1980 power door lock failure

My 1980 power door locks never worked since purchase,no sound nothing. Power windows work fine.I can not find a blown fuse. What should I take apart first to troubleshoot.Thank You

The switches are usually the culprit.In my shop I have a used good set of switches I always put in to rule out the switches and it works most of the time.Here is a diagram of the system.

if both locks do not work then the passenger side is not grounded.
look closley at the diagram above.

typicaly the pass side causes all the power door lock problems.

I have run into this problem twice (both were 1980) on cars that have been sitting for a number of years. Do the locks easily operate manually with the *****? If not the linkages and rockers could have corroded and the lock motors do not have enough power to over come it. I had one that was so corroded that I had to take the assembly out of the door to get it broke loose with muscle and penetrating oil being careful not to bend everything up.
