I got the Weiand TeamG Street Ram single plane manifold on yesterday. I also completed installing 1.6 rockers on all valves. The motor likes those mods. Vacuum increased 1 psi to 17 cold & 19 warm. Overall, the engine feels like its sinus passages opened up. Kinda similar to when the hedders were installed. I haven't taken it out for a long drive, but from the short one I took, I didn't lose much low end torque. The Q-jet makes for a smooth idle with crisp response. I think the carb is calling for a richer setting and this thing will boom off-idle. I thought I'd share this with you guys interested in single planes. This TeamG is very streetable, now lets see how it will perform on the track.

I'm like the other lemmings, a single plane won't work on the street.
Since, like you, I've got a bucket load of low end torque I will be interested in hearing how it works at the drag strip. I've got a couple of carb spacers, one open and one 4 hole, that I was going to play with at the strip next season.
cool. that is the intake i have on my car now and i am still playing with some carb setting. but the car definatly is streetable. i am still not sure which is better, the RPM or the team G. the team G helps on top end. i picked up a couple mph with it. but the rpm is alot more fun around town :cheers:
I have been kicking this around for a while. Still can't decide if it is worth it. Let me know what you think and what it does for the strip. Did you have a performer intake before and you must be running a spacer or adapter to run the Qjet with that intake.

I believe the increased vacuum was due to the switch to 1.6 rockers. I retimed to 14 degrees initial from previously 16 and got the 19 psi. I even had to crank the curb idle screw down to get a 700 rpm idle. All of that is telling me is things got leaner. Only now I'm remembering that I didn't adjust my idle mixture screws. Maybe I can get it to run even smoother with adjustment.

I was going to go with the RPM Air-Gap initially. Then I realized that our low hood clearance would compromise air filtration area above the carb. Not wanting to change hoods, this manifold should be competitive enough while providing plenty of space for a short spacer plate or one of those spacer plates that come with blue bottles :D

With the kinda horsepower you're pumping, maybe this manifold is too small for you :D This #7525 manifold is a street manifold. It has a spreadbore/squarebore carb mounting flange. Choke & EGR provisions are cast in but I'm not running that stuff. Its the manifold that Weiand uses in its advertisements for TeamG stuff but for some odd reason, the catalogs don't list that PN. This manifold produces a real nice, smooth idle and a smooth transition as the throttle is pressed. No stumbling or bogging occurred. Could this be a sign of good fuel distribution characteristics??? I don't know.
I'd like to try the Victor Jr and see what that does. Been looking for a used one around here to try. Might lose some low end but thats OK. Keep us posted to the times

As soon as you get on the throttle, and better yet when the engine down shifts, YAHOOOOO! Man, I never felt the engine like that before. Kind of scary. I think I found the mid-range boom that i was looking for. :D

I switched from an RPM airgap to a SuperVictor single plane monster.
I was expecting to feel a loss of low end and more stumble, but It still rocks and stumbles less! WhoooHooo!
I've been toying with the idea of going to that manifold when I start my new motor - are you using the plenum divider? did you have to use a spacer to mount your q-jet?
nunus79 - Glad to see that you like the single plan manifold. Now that it has gotten cold here in Dallas (low 30's), I'm having fits getting my carb setup, especially off-idle.
fauxrs - The 7525 manifold is a universal manifold which is tapped for both square and spread bore carbs. Also, I'm not running a divider and when I ran it on my old stock 350, I did not really notice a signifigant loss in low end torque.
Before weiand thought up the poorly fitting divider. By the way which is not sealed from side to side. I made a divider to make it a true dual plane.
At the time I had a 355 That I always ran to 6500+ rpm with 10.7 C/R and a Crane 278 powermax cam with 1.6's and max ported 186 casting heads 1 3/4 headers, 750 edelbrock carb.
Norris I'm sure that you need to increase the Squirters. To prevent off idle to WOT bog. I don't think that cruise primary jetting should need to be richer. You only have to go richer if your loosing fuel out of suspension (sp?). Your stall in the TQ converter should jump you right past the off idle transistion. so if you don't have stumbling at cruise or lean popping (manifold backfire) when you crack the trottle your jetting is fine.
I couldn't tell much if any difference. but I was able to jet it maybe 1 % leaner. I eventually took it out when I went full solid roller because of problems with manifold backfire.

I was going to buy the plenum divider as recommended by Weiand for automatics but I figured why not try it as is first. Works good as is so I don't think I need it. The Qjet fits nicely without adapters. I'm using a 1/4" thick open-hole Felpro insulating base gasket under the carb.

No bog, stumble, or lean-out surging/popping. Engine temp is a little hotter though. I'm thinking that with the increased vacuum, my power piston spring is too weak (6 psi). I'm thinking of going back to the 8 psi spring. Now you've got me thinking about increasing the squirters too.
How do you do that on a Qjet? Anyone got suggestions?
