Default New restorer , usual problems

Im new to this forum , hello everyone

Restoring '69 vette coupe , inserted new 383cui stroker engine
Problems:

1. looking for the right (for new chromed 85amps alternator) bracket kit
still not sure what to order since engine is new 383cui stroker (performance)

2. can't find twin part of Pillar Post Weatherstrip Retainer
(http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...8&dept_id=1514)
It's weird i can't find it (ecklers.com , corvetteamerica.com) what's the name for it ? Looking for a wider twin still/chromed pillar.

3.badly need good , clear diagrams for electric and vacuum installation.

4. Does anyone know if new alternators got voltage regulators inside ?

5. Is it possible to find tachometer matching to my new engine , (stock cord based won't work )

Thanks for any info and help

Phil

For a good book with wiring diagrams, get a Wilcox '69 AIM PDF on a CD. You can zoom in and search, and it's year specific to your car.

Yes, SI and CS alternators are internally regulated.

It's easier to get an HEI distributor with a tach cable port, so you can use your stock tachometer, than it is to retrofit an HEI tach into your car to match the HEI. A few of the vendors sell the HEI distributors with a modified shaft that has the tach cable port. Not cheap, but they are worth it.

If you are talking about the windshield side reveal molding or windshield side frame, that wraps around the pillar, Ecklers carries a reproduction, but does not show any in stock. Paragon reproductions only shows used. Forum sponsor Willcox appears to have them as does Corvette Central.

Hope this helps. Welcome to the forum and good luck.

You can find a good HEI tach drive for under $200. Get an alternator from PEPBOYS/etc.

Sorry - didn't realize you are in Poland. But, you can still get good parts less expensive than some catalog companies.
