82 Fuel pump problem
Are you getting spray at the injectors when you turn it over?
Also, there is a very common problem with '82's; there is a rubber hose going from the fuel pump to the fuel line. This hose deteriorates and dumps the fuel back into the tank. Therefore there is not enough pressure in the line to feed the injectors. I noticed it when I was replacing my pump.
I'm not an expert on the crossfire, but I've learned a great deal from the Crossfire Injection Vault website.
Those guys ARE experts, so you might want to join and post over there. They can get you the answer better than I can.

I think Luster gave you good information. The ECM will run the fuel pump for a 2 second prime pulse, then the motor should fire. The ECM is also looking for oil pressure, and won't let the engine start without it. The switch for the oil pressure gauge is on the left side of the motor down towards the oil pan, but I'm not sure where the ECM gets the low oil signal. Did you replace the sock filter when you installed the new pump? There is also a filter on the frame behind the right front wheel. It could be a blocked filter, take off the air cleaner and see if the injectors are spraying.
Good luck

Pop the hood in the morning. Take the air cleaner off. Turn the key and listen for the pump. Right after you should see a prime pulse from the injectors. Are you getting the prime pulse? Check the injector fuses...2 of them. Check the ECM fuse in the battery compartment.
Do you get any spray from the injectors when kicking it over? Even a dribble? Put a test light on the injectors they light should blink as the pulse while kicking it over. if the are pulsing they are working.
