What is currently wrong with your Vette?
What is current wrong with your Vette?
Well with my dad's Vette (80 L-48) we currenty have a few problems.
1. Needs a tune up
2. Needs a paint job
3. Needs interior completely re-done
4. Needs new rear tires :lol:
5. Needs rear shocks
6. Tach isn't working properly.
7. Clock hasn't worked since we got the car.
8. Needs passenger side power window motor
9. No heater.
10. No air conditioning.
11. Has a vacuum leak somewhere (headlights go up halfway and then need to be pulled up)
12. Power door locks don't work
13. Engine needs to be timed correctly (wasn't timed correctly when the timing chain was replaced)
14. Needs front brakes replaced.
15. Has a power steering leak somewhere.

Mine:
New radiator shroud
Radiator repair(or replace)
Tach doesn't work right
repack front bearings
cruise control doesn't work
Thats all thats really wrong with it. There are other things I want to do, but can go a few years without doing.

2. Still idles too high
3. Blower motor appears to be making a noise
4. Humming noise from the rear end
5. Broken clock
6. Both doors hang a little low
7. Vacuum leak. Everything works ok, but the headlights won't go down if the car is off.

Got a small oil leak that is drivin' me nuts....fan switch dont work (not a real prob) and the biggest prob is that its covered up in the garage waitin' for Spring :jester :flag :seeya

A/C Compressor bearings shot
Trailing Arm bushings
Trans hose to radiator leaks (have part..no time)
Front oil pan seal leaks (have part..no time)
Sway Bar links and bushings (waiting for parts)
Stablizer bushings (waiting for parts)
Re-paint old, or get new wheels
Other than that, not too bad.. oh yeah... too slow :yesnod: :yesnod:

#3 The Interior.
I bought all new interior trim pcs., carpet, seat foam and covers back in November thinking to gut and replace everything would be a one, maybe two weekend project. :lol: Not one new pc. fits properly without modifying it first. Now a month and a half later I'm almost finished. Maybe this weekend. :)

A few minor items.....
1. Needs finetuning to find some more hp.
2. Radiator looks cheesy so intend to replace.
3. Driver door need adjustment.
4. Driver window (manual) is really stiff.
5. Dash lights don't work....electrical gremlin.
6. Clock has never worked (low priority item).
Other than this, everything else is ok!! Item 6 will be on my list for years to come......

Ack! Good topic.
1. Starter doesn't work below 50 degrees
2. Wheels (the ones that came with it) are the wrong size and rub
3. New carb needs to be leak tested and tuned (can't do it because of starter)
4. Half the gauges don't work. (Not looking forward to tearing out center console)
5. Knocking sound from No. 8 cylinder. Hoping misadjusted rocker.
6. Alignment
7. Brake booster might be shot.

Since they are closely watching my 72, i checked all the lamps, and 3 side marker bulbs are out :rolleyes:

Let's see....
Tach broken (have replacement, just need to install)
Gauge lights inop
Crappy stereo (have replacement, need install kit)
Window rollers need to be replaced
Vacuum problem with AC controls
AC is inop
Carb needs a rebuild by someone who knows what they are doing
E-brake needs adjusting
Needs power (currently putting on new Vortec heads)
Needs water pump
I thinks that's it for now. I'm sure more things will pop up the next time I start it.

I needed to sit down and make a list anyways...maybe I should list what isnt wrong..
1. Cracked windshield
2. Needs new pads and rotors
3. Runs to rich
4. Needs seat belts
5. Finish carpet
6. Headlights dont go down
7. Cracked right fender
8. Needs paint
9. Manifold studs
10. No cats, no mufflers
11.Heater doesnt work
12. Speedo doesnt work
13. Heard bad noise in clutch the other day..it musta been bad (heard it over exhaust)
14. Bolt down seats :crazy:
15. Missing some wheel studs
16. Bald tires
17. Only one break light lights up when lights are on
18. 20+ wires hangin at my feet

I actually feel as though I'm winning this battle now :)
1. Rear end whine.
2. Trailing arm rebuild soon.
3. T-top leak.
4. Spare tire assembly.
5. Pass side light switch (again).
I think everything else now works correctly!
