Default Cost for engine rebuild

What is the price range to rebuild a 350 engine including boring, pistons, rings, etc. Ball park--just curious.

That really depends on your local machine shop prices, but with same heads and intake...right around $1K.

That being said, if you're going to rebuild it, you might as well improve the air flow via the heads, intake, and exhaust...which would double that first estimate.

The upside is, done right, you'd end up with another 80 - 90 HP.

I'd say figure $800 for machine work including complete head work with adding hardened seats. If you went Vortec heads figure $400 machine work on the block, crank, rods, clean parts. Then whatever the heads cost. As far as parts, you can start with a basic $200 kit and go as high as you want. I would say $500 for a good quality complete engine kit. I'm going to say $1500 ballpark with machine work, parts, and new Vortec heads or complete head work on existing heads. Then tuneup parts, starter, oil....

About $1000 a couple of years ago for the 4 bolt main 350 in my T-Bucket.
.030 over with Speed Pro flat tops, rings, all new Clevite bearings, polished crank journals, roller timing chain, Crane cam and lifters, Melling HV oil pump and roller tip rocker arms and some but not all ARP bolts.
Used original pre 1975 heads (heavy castings #441 - not H.O. but good for street use) with 3 angle valve job and Z28 springs. Sealed everything with Victor gasket set.
Bought parts from local NAPA as well as mail order such as PAW in CA and Northern Auto Parts in IA. Did everything myself except machine work and heads.
$ included a B&M Hole Shot Torque converter but does not include tools such as gear puller, balancer installation tool, ridge reamer, ring expander and engine hoist. Also does not include oil, filter, new coolant, bandages, and beer. I was able to borrow an engine pre-oiler (from Auto Zone) and a micrometer set.
