Default Fan wiring for radiator?

ive got a new dewitts radiator and custom fans on rad, just bit confused by the wiring

here some pics to start of with

http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=DSC00621.jpg

the black and red wire is enough to run to the back of the car, so going to connect to battery

the yellow(number 9), is to connect to water temp sensor in heads??

http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=DSC00631.jpg

is this a fuse?, do I connect it to the red wire or black wire at the battery?

http://s206.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=DSC00628.jpg

I think this is a sensor of some sort, where would this be placed, and which numbers would you plug it into?

does it look like there's any thing missing from my control thing?

thanks

dave

I can't see the pictures now (blocked at work), but I did look last night.

First question is - do you have the manual for that controller? It should make things pretty clear.

If you need to and they are long enough, sounds right. Connecting to the starter and frame could also be a viable option.

the yellow(number 9), is to connect to water temp sensor in heads??
That would be one option. You could put an additional sensor in the passenger side head if there is nothing there OR you could put one in the intake manifold.

HOWEVER - your last picture is a sensor, so if you are going to use that one (I personally don't like them as they can cause leaks when jammed into the fins!), then THAT is where this wire probably should go.

is this a fuse?, do I connect it to the red wire or black wire at the battery?
Again, I can't "see" it, however, typically, fuses should be in the POSITIVE (Red) line.

ok I am doing this from memory from a long time ago but here is best I can remember... the last pic is a temp probe and it will work just fine... some people don't like them but mine is functioning well... it will be gently squeezed in between the fins on the radiator most likely in the upper driver's side corner near where the coolant will exit the radiator. There will be a switched 12v power that goes through this.... this thing senses the coolant temp and whatever the high is you have set on the controller 190 or so, when reached will activate the fans. The second pic is a fuse that should be on the positive side. There is no need to run the rest of the wiring all the way back to the battery. You can attach the fan's ground on the front driver's side of the radiator support with the front lighting harness ground and then you can attach the 12v constant on the large lug on the alternator. Then run the 12v switched to the yellow wire on the wiper motor harness. Have you upgraded your alternator? Do you have the instruction manual for the fans? The above is how I set mine up but it was for a simple 1 fan setup on my dewitts that went through a relay.

hth,

Sully

If you are going to use the probe, then you probably won't. The probe would be the temp signal rather than the gauge sending unit.

I would think you would connect it to the probe - is it not the temp sense line?

Get online at the fan manufacturer's website and see if the manual for your unit can be downloaded. You want it wired up as the mfgr. specifies. If they don't have it online, I'm sure they will send you an installation booklet.

If you have a Dewitt's setup then it came with a good relay system and instructions.

Also....cut that excess wire out of the way and clean it up.

Small orange is for the switch and is wired into the fuse panel.
Big yellow goes to the constant hot on the back of the Alt.
one Gray to the temp switch mounted in the rad
Other Gray to a ground (at least one fan always on)
Black to a ground.

Take your time and you'll be ok....
Also do a search on rad fan wiring....DB has a really good diagram and instructions.
