i think i remeber reading bout it but im not sure is this even possible?
I think it is. A 4L60 will bolt up to a Gen1 block, and a 4L60 will bolt up to an LS engine. By that same logic, I would assume that a TH400, would fit an LS engine just fine.
Car Craft just did an article on this in their Oct 08 issue. Its not quite a dirrect bolt in, the gen III/IV flexplate is .400 too short for a 350/400/200r/700r. (From me reading the article only)
The article has a parts list and prices from a couple of sources, looks like about $200 for a spacer and flexplate to make an older tranny fit.

The 4L60E that bolts to a Gen 1 block (1993-1997) and the 4L60E that bolts to an LSx (1998 +) are two different cases. But are controlled the same way through the computer. As far as the TH400 on an LSx, I do think a spacer is required.
The bellhousing flange on the sbc gen 1 somewhat covers the flexplate were as on the ls engine it is comepletely open... I dont know if that helps, but it does explain why a spacer is needed.
