I'm going to do a tune up on my 81 and was wondering if anyone has replaced the folloing parts and did you see a difference?
Coil and cap with a Corvette Performance Distributor's "Hi-Voltage" Coil Kit,
A5805 as shown in Ecklers and adding Corvette Spark Plug Wires, Moroso, 1975-1982 --Part# A5754, Corvette Distributor Ignition Module, Hi-Performance,
DYNA MOD, 1981-1991 --Part# 29185, and Corvette Spark Plugs, Rapidfire, #2, ACDelco, 1976-1984 --Part# 31853.
I don't want to spend a bunch if I'm not going to see any difference from stock.
Save your money.Just buy good quality parts at your local parts store. If it looks like the stock HEI module, the GM one is just as good!
The GM part is good to around 4500 rpm, unless you have a built high performance, high rpm engine the stock replacement components will get the job done.
