Default Long Pump & Spreader Bar

I am setting up my new GMPP ZZ383. It comes from GM equipped with a long water pump. I am going to run a Dewitt radiator and dual fan setup. I think I can leave the long pump on and use it in conjunction with the Dewitt/ electric fan setup. My question is: Can I still fit a spreader bar in, using the long water pump, or does this pump eat up all the clearence I need? Any info is appreciated.

Are your pulleys going to line up with the long pump? I think this is more of a concern than the spreader bar and fans.

What brackets and pulleys are you using?

Yes you can still install a spreader bar but you will have to have custom brackets made to push the bar further forward. My first set of brackets had the bar touching the water pump bolt heads, so a new set of brackets will be needed to push the bar forward a bit.

Default Brackets and Pulleys

It seems from all the info I have read in my searchs on this forum, that the major problem with an install of the ZZ383 is the waterpump to pulley to brackets setup. It seems that there are a lot of mismatched, misaligned combos being tried, with no clear setup being optimal for my 1971 roadster/power steering application. So I figured I would leave the long pump supplied with motor in place as a starting point, in order to reference GMPP's from my dealer. My logic being that the dealer should be able to tell what fits the first time around if he knows the part is being mated to another GMPP. Is that theory Utopian? I am a rookie at this, this being my first attempt at a hot rod, so any advice or info is greatly appreciated. I had posted last week for info on this subject, but got limited response.
Thanks!
