Default Seating options

Currently replacing most of the interior in a 78, are there any options that I have for seating? I would like a good quality low back race-style seat ie. corbeau, recaro etc. The stock seats don't look right in the car(pro-touring style, adjustable suspension on 20 inch wheels) The space looks very limited, has anyone had any success with installing an aftermarket seat? pics would be nice, thanks!

Corbeau seats from www.speeddirect.com. I have an 82 so the floorpan on the driver side differs from the passenger side. I have to make a bracket to raise the driver's side up. Dont remember the price, but should be an easy install on a 79. This is the best picture I have, hope this helps.

Take a look at Fiero seats as well. They fit, have decent side bolstering and look the part for your pro-touring build. I don't have any pictures, but do a search for fiero seats on here and you should come up with a few.

Fieros are nice, I just installed a Corbeau in mine. Only issue was seating height. The brackets available from Corbeau are super low, so the bracket isn't an issue. The seat is. If your 5'11 or above, the stock install will make your head hit the T-Top, w/o the liner, if you sit up.- Solution- Take out the bottom foam and cut 1.25" from the bottom, straight across. I'm 6' exactly, and the new slightly higher driving height is what I wanted, anyway, and that's with the foam shaved. With the foam shaved, I can just see the top edge of the pass side headlight door when it's up. Love the seats. If you go that direction, they will tell you the CR1s won't fit- too wide, but they fit fine. they recommend A4s, still have to shave them if your over 5'11. Advice 2??? get the pump up lumbar, it's worth the 50 extra bucks. C.

Corvette Fever has a detailed article on installing C-5 sport seats in a mid-year Vette on their web-site. Go to their web-site and look under "Project Cars".

The SpeedDirect Corbeau seats already have the foam shaved and their brackets are lower still than what Corbeau sells.

I have a set of black Corbeaus in my 69 that will be for sale as soon as my originals are back from the upholstery shop. They are like new with the tracks. If you are interested, let me know. THANKS! Mick
