Sounds like someone has either spliced into or connected incorrectly the wiper door and headlight ***'y vacuum lines.
PS Has anyone else noticed how many questions are coming in lately with no mention of year of car and no profile filled out? I guess we need to use ESP to answer.
Sorry guys...its a 70 small block...the headlights and wiper both go up at the same time when you turn on the headlights, or if you use the headlight door override switch, but the wiper door will open independently with the wiper override switch.
Hi AC,
I was trying to make a joke. Looking for more information.
Sorry!
Regards,
Alan
If your question is serious I'd start by looking at Wilcox's vacuum hose routing diagrams and getting Dr. Rebuilds Trouble Shooting Guide. I often hear that the wiper door and head light doors open and close at start-up, but not that the wiper door opens when you pull the headlight switch. Is that what you have?
And what is the event that initiates it? Turning on lights?, Wipers?, both, starting car?, turning off car?, pulling wiper override?, headlight override?, both?
Give us some more info. Have you made any changes lately? When did it start?

it could be the hoses are mixed up on the headlight switch, or the headlight switch is not holding vacuum to the wiper side as it should. I had a bad switch, replaced it and now the system works again...for a little while!
