Default New Ignition switch does not have Accessory position

I bought a new ignition switch from Ecklers a few months ago as my old one would accept any key.

Upon installing it yesterday I noticed that it does not have an accessory switch when turned counter clockwise.

I did not recall if my old one did either, but the owners manual says that there was one in 69.

Is this correct or did somehow it get installed wrong?

Funny thing is every other position works.

The steering wheel lock also goes click click lock and before it just locked.

Any advise on how to fix if possible would be of help.

Thanks

Adjust the start switch on the column, with relationship to the starter key position.
I metal rod connects the 2 together.
Lossen the mounting screws and adjust to correct position.

Are you pushing in while trying to turn back?

Do you have picture showing what you mean?

I cant visualize it.

Will this give me the accessory and help the steering lock?

I am looking at Jim Shea's papers, but only find pre 69 switch and not much detail. I will keep looking.

Thanks

Yes

It goes a little, but does not allow anything to turn on so it is not there.

Thanks

Its probably a misadjusted ign switch but awhile back there was thread where one of the guys had an extra ring at the bottom of the lock hole.On the bottom of your ign. lock is a ring with a tab on it.Make sure your old ign. lock still has it on there. If not it could still be inside.

Old one is in the garbage, which just got picked up.

Anyways I will take it apart and look for a tab?

Any pictures?

Thanks

let's clarifiy I assume you replaced the key lock,
where you insert the key. (it is not the switch).

a long rod connects the lock to the - Ignition switch,
which is located on top of the column, behind the dash.

now Adjust the the Igintion switch position,
if you replaced the lock properly. 69VETT

Next time, NEVER throw out old part until problem is fixed for a week or 2.

Here is the ring that "could" be left behind.
EDIT-here is the thread from where I lifted the pic.I could not find the thread where the guy had said he found 2 of these in his column.I still cant believe the lock would go all the way in with 2 of these.

it's been a while back, but i ran into the same problem. best i can remember, the lock cylinder was too far into the column and could not travel in the required distance to allow turning to the acc position.
the only way i found to make it work was to drill a small hole stratigically in the end of the lock cylinder and epoxy in a short piece of piano wire. this made the spring loaded cylinder stand out far enough in the other positions so that it would work in the acc position.
i wish i had a better description. i also felt like it a little bubba, but figured another lock cylinder would probably have the same problem, and it has worked fine for a couple of years . . . so far

Thanks, I looked at both key locks and they were the same.
it does click into a spot close to where you would think acc is but nothing has power in this position.

Not as if I ever used it, just would like to know that it works.

Thanks again, I am going to leave it for now as I am prepping for paint.
