Default 72 fuse panel

Restoring a 72 and need a little help. Would a C3 owner be kind enough to post a good quality picture of their fuse panel on the engine bay side of firewall. I know this could be tough with all the brake booster junk in the way but it never hurts to ask. Just trying to see what mine was originally supposed to look like with all the wires and junk coming through the firewall. Thanks in advance. You guys always seem to come through.

Sorry, no picture but I just replaced the engine wiring harness on my '72 and yes it comes through the firewall under the brake booster along with the forward light harness. I was able to get at it relatively easily by removing the left egg-crate and reaching in from the side. There's lots of goop and dirt on the connector. There's a bolt in the middle of the connector which pulls the connector apart from the fuse panel as it's loosened.

Hope this helps. (even though there's no picture!)

Thanks Brooklinite,
Yes that helps but I was really hoping for a clear picture of a complete unit in the car to make sure what I have done is correct. I know on most C3's this can be a pretty grungy area but somewhere out there is a member with a very clean machine and a good digital camera. Thanks again, your reply is greatly appreciated.

If noone else does it by tonight I'll put mine up on the lift and take a shot from below. Mine is pretty clean in that area. I have a hydroboost so no brake booster will be there but that should not make a difference.

Hi Norm,
As Brooklinite described there is a center screw that holds the harness connectors to the fuse block. The connector seems to be 1 piece until you take the screw out and pull the connector out of the fuse block. The connector is 2 pieces, 1 connector for the engine harness and 1 connector for the front lighting harness. The 2 connectors are shaped so that they only fit together one way and can only be plugged into the fuse block 1 way. GM then gobbed on a whole lot of black sealant to waterproof the connection. It's really pretty straight forward.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
Seems to be a little confusion on my posting. I am not trying to take a fuse panel apart. That was the easy part 12 months ago. I am now putting this ride back together and need to see a stock C3 fuse panel from the engine bay side. This is simply my way of making sure everything is in place and looks original. Wiring for an original car can be a pain in the butt with all the assorted wraps, clamps, coatings, and so on. Thanks for the reply just the same.

It will only go together one way.

I know how to take it apart!
I know how to put it back together!
I just want to see the finished product on an original C3.
